According to an announcement by French Thomson on February 17, the company has reached an agreement with India's Tata Sky whereby it will supply the Indian company with digital set-top boxes. Tata Sky, a joint venture between the Indian Tata Group and Star, which belongs to News Corp, needs the set-top boxes for its new satellite TV service in India, which it plans to launch in mid-2006. Thomson did not disclose financial details of the deal, nor did it say how many set-top boxes it will supply.
